Russian court fines Google more than world's GDP ##

Russia has demanded Google pay an unprecedented fine exceeding the world’s GDP for blocking pro-Kremlin media outlets.

The Moscow judges are seeking about $20 decillion, a figure vastly higher than the $100 trillion global economy. Google’s penalties stem from banning channels like Tsargrad TV, owned by oligarch Konstantin Malofeev, on YouTube. Initially, Google incurred a daily fine that has since ballooned to more than 2 undecillion roubles. Despite these legal challenges, Google reported a revenue increase of 15% in Q3 2024 and stated it does not expect significant adverse effects from this situation.
